Now I'm so used to using My Computer from the desktop, it's one of the first things I add when I work on a computer I haven't used before... What I want to know, is why is it so hard to do that with an out of the box installation of Windows Server 2008 R2?
You can add the Acitive Directory tools, DNS, DHCP, WINS, File Sharing, Printer Sharing, WSUS and a whole bunch of other stuff without rebooting the computer, but if you want to easily "Personalize" your desktop (you know, right click on the desktop and select personalize), you need to add the Desktop Experience "Feature", install the other things it depends on, and then reboot the computer... TWICE??!?!?!!!
Yes, it reboots twice... Why should that be that difficult where you can add a whole bunch of other tools that allow you to do much more "damage" to the operating system or network without so much as a blip from the Operating System!
Doh!
