This is something that I have a tendency to overlook, but it's very important to remember never the less... Your Group Policies are NOT backed up normally as a part of your System State backup! If your like me and use a lot of GPO's to manage your network, push software, etc, then having to all of a sudden recreate a large number of group policies would be a major pain!
Fortunately, Microsoft makes it easy to perform separate backups of your GPO's.
To backup a single policy (or all of them if you so choose), open up Group Policy Management and drill down to Group Policy Objects and click on it. In the right had window, select the policy or policies your want to back up, right click and select "Backup". Choose a folder to put them in and that's all it takes to make sure you have a good backup of all your policies!
