Relay SMPT messages interally and externally with Exchange 2007 and 2010

The Exchange Server will deliver messages to local users on the exchange Server without authentication (this is how SMTP mail is delivered), but when you try to send to someone outside of your orginization, your are actually trying to use the Exchange Server as an open relay...  You need to allow the device or program the ability to relay email off the Exchange server...

You need to create a custom recipient policy and the customize it to allow the IP address of the device or program ONLY to relay off that connector.  This is important because if you open up the recieve connector to too many IP addresses or improperly, you can potentially make your Exchange server an SMTP Open Relay server...
