Websense? Dear God, I hate Websense right about now...+++

Ahhh... Just another interesting day dealing with the unknown.... Sitting here watching Chopped on the Food Network, I'm reflecting on the day's work.

I've come to the conclusion that the Websense product's install application either is terribly written, or it has no ability to adapt to any unusual kind of software/hardware it's being installed from. Why do I say that? Well, let me explain my day...

Tuesday morning... Off to Milford. I figure I should be able to wrap up the project I'm working on, and with the few tasks that remain, that shouldn't be too much of a problem. I get to the client and all seems to be going well. There are a small number of applications and issues that need to be dealt with, so I should be okay.

In comes Websense Web filtering software. Recently I discovered that the applicaiton will not install on a system with a 64 bit Operating System (reguardless if it's Windows Server 2003 or 2008), so I push forward in getting the application installed on one of the older servers (that's running a 32 bit OS).

Now, I've had problematic applications in the past, but this one won't install no matter what I try. As a matter of fact, I spent almost 4 hours on the phone with their support trying to get the application to work. I have such a hard time believeing that in half a day we can't get an application installed and running. But, it is what it is.... Maybe we'll see tomorrow if it can be resolved, but as of tonight, it still doesn't work.
